Running Club Party

Thank you to everyone for the kind comments on my race post yesterday. I really appreciated reading each one and they made me feel better. I was actually very surprised with my time for the half and all things considered it is a good time. That is not what I had been dwelling on. It was the fact that I had problems during AND after the race. Scary problems that I really don't have an answer for or know why they happened.

But moving on from that, last night I went to the Tuesday workout for my running club (which was being held at my coach's house). We did 6+ easy miles on the trails and I felt great. Of course my legs were still a little sore and tired from the race but running with the group was exactly what I needed to get myself back into gear.

After the workout, we returned to the house and all stepped into a cold "tub" which was just a little kiddie swimming pool. My legs LOVED this and I felt so much better. Then we all gathered inside to enjoy lots of food and good company! To top it off, they had a huge delicious cake for dessert! I was in heaven!

I am not sure what the next week holds for running, but I am sure I will get out for a few fun runs! The morning temps have been dipping into the low 50s and high 40s so I think it might be time to pull out some of the warmer clothing! I hate to say it but I am going to miss summer!

Happy Wednesday!

I've been away from blogging for a few days so I had to go back and read your last post. I'm sorry to hear you had such a tough race! I'm sure you were prepared, but I think sometimes no matter how prepared we are, we can't do anything about an off day. I'm glad to hear you got right back into it with your group this week!

Glad you are feeling better about things, and that you were able to shake out the legs with a nice group run + cold soak.

The party and CAKE were a great bonus!!

I am loving these cold mornings. Long sleeves today. :)

Way to step back and enjoy a new run! Sounds like it was exactly what you needed ;)

Enjoy the temps - we have those right now and it is devine!

I read your race recap yest and just wanted to say don't dwell on it too much. It's one race that went bad and will teach you what to do differently next time. Maybe experimenting with some different fueling options mid and post race to avoid hydrating w/out enough salt in your system. I know my stomach is always out of whack for a day or two of and after the race or a long run.

cool! you had me at CAKE!

do you plunge your legs into cold water often after running? I haven't read you blog enough to know what you like to do after runs.

I am glad you are feeling better. I hope you are able to figure out what might have caused you to feel like you did after the race... I can see why that is concerning for you. :( I am glad that Brian was there for you to get you to the doctor, though...

Cold water baths (or ice baths as I do them) are the best after a run. They are sort of a 'hurt so good' type of thing almost, as I definitely shriek a bit when I get into it initially!

Nothing better than the company of fellow runners. Even better to enjoy good food together. Here by me the mornings are warming up as we move into spring. I'm packing away the warmer clothing now.
