Rising temperatures

When the weather forecast looks like this for the next five days, hydration becomes a necessity -

Tonight's running club track workout is going to be hot hot hot!!  I am not sure about the workout but possibilities include:

2x 4km at tempo pace OR
2x 1mi at 5 mi pace w/ 6x200m at race pace

Good thing I have the perfect way to hydrate while at work!

How do you make sure you are hydrated?? Happy Tuesday!

  1. Kind of looks like our forcast! We have had 80-100% humidity too which is horrible! Woke up to tons of moisture on the windows this morning... feels like louisiana! Glad your hydrating!

  2. My non-running self loves that hot, hot heat, but the runner in me is thankful that we are having a cool summer out here. I keep a jug of water on my desk and try to finish it every day.

  3. Looks like our forecast as well. Blah

I love my Diet Dr Pepper... but this time of year I am forced to back off the soda and drink a TON of water.

  5. I drink water like there is no tomorrow right now. I even had gatorade on my (VERY) early morning morning...Nothing like gatorade @ 4:30 in the morning.

  6. Hot hot hot!!! I actually use Pedialyte to hydrate because it has more electrolytes than Gatorade and it doesn't upset my stomach like Nuun or the other tablets.

  7. Stay hydrated! I'm glad I hit up the track this morning. It wasn't as hot as it is now. Plus, I'm a water girl but will pull out the nuun or gatorade when it is hot, regardless of how long or short the run is.

  8. We are getting a heat wave here in Minneapolis, too. And the humidity is horrendous. Last night's hill repeat workout was one of the toughest workouts i have ever done. I can't wait until this humidity moves on and we have more 'normal' temps!

I stay hydrated by drinking water like crazy and eating watermelon. :)

  10. Ughh the weather has been brutal. I like that you get to choose your track workout. Which one are you going to pick?? My club takes a break from track workouts in the summer, but I miss them!

  11. I have a tempo run tomorrow and it's supposed to be 105. I don't know how that's going to happen. I'm in Raleigh, NC. I can do the workouts in the heat but then I dead for the whole day. errr!

  12. Yeah, it is hot, hot, HOT! I try to eat a good bit of fresh or frozen fruit to help w/the hydration.

    Stay cool!

  13. Yep, I've skipped my runs the last two days and I am missing it - damn heat!

But then I was complaining about our shitty winter and dreamed of summer, now I complain again. :D

  14. I pre-hydrate really well with water, but I struggle with hydrating on my runs. I always either under or over hydrate...so I'm either parched and lethargic...or I have water sloshing around in my stomach. I might have to try the Pedialyte trick Elizabeth suggested...
