5am feels like 4am

Daylight Savings took effect over the weekend and I feel like my whole week is going to be off until I get adjusted.

For the first few days when we change the clocks, I always think about the old time.

The first morning back to work especially.  Because when my alarm goes off at 5am, my brain instantly thinks -

"It is really 4am."

And I know a few of you do get up at 4am (or earlier) but for me there is just something about getting up at a time with a 4:xx in first number.  A 5:00am wake up just seems much easier than 4:59am even though its only one minute.

Even though the clock didn't actually say 4:00am on it, my body felt like it was 4am and it was difficult to get myself in gear and out the door on my run.  The one thing driving me to run was that the temperature was 54F! I put on my capris and long sleeve shirt and headed out the door for my run.

54F at 5am hasn't been seen in months and my planned 6 mile run turned into 7 miles.  I just didn't want the run to end because a) it was so nice out and b) that meant I would have to go to work.

This mornings run reminded me how much I enjoy summer running.
How much I enjoy not having to put on 13 layers to go run.
How much I enjoy not wearing gloves.
How much I enjoy not seeing my frozen breath in the beam of my headlamp.

I think I am ready for spring time and warmer weather for sure. I enjoyed winter while it lasted but it has over stayed it welcome.  Time for spring!

I think the toughest thing about time change is my eating habits are off for a few days. I get hungrier earlier!

I do that too, for the first week or so "it's really xx:xx time!" LOL! But it sounds like it was an awesome run!

I thought of you on my morning run today! I had one too where I didn't want to stop ;)

I had such a hard time getting up and working out this morning. Plus I had a hard time falling asleep. I suppose I can blame daylight savings.

The warmer weather is amazing.

I am totally with you regarding getting up at any time that begins with 4, but even then I am not very good if that first number is 5.

Hopefully spring will stick around and we can enjoy this added daylight at night, and non-layered runs.

I struggled this morning too, even though I purposely went to bed earlier the past couple of nights. Still waiting for warmer mornings here - I'm still layering up!

I totally hear you. It takes me like 5-6 days to feel normal again after we lose an hour. And I totally wish it didn't happen until April like it used to. Anyway, spring is coming- soon you will be able to ditch your layers!

I'm also so glad that spring is on it's way! I just ran after work which I'm not crazy about, but I had my capri's on for the first time this year, 52 degrees - and just a single long sleeve shirt also. Heaven.

I agree on both fronts. Waking up in the 4 o clock hour seems crazy, but 5 seems OKAY. And today, I felt almost hungover I was so exhausted from the weekend mixed with daylight savings time. Hoping tomorrow I wake up a bit less groggy...

We don't have Daylight Savings over here and I think I'm glad about that. Our mornings are getting darker and cooler slowly. Summer is moving on...

I usually trick myself and set all clocks Saturday before we go to bed, So when we wake up Sunday, I pretend it is that time. Spring is easier than fall, since we gain daylight and I'm always super excited about that!
