I went to REI (www.rei.com) and got a few things tha do the trick. Number one - a reflective vest. A mut have to be seen. Number two a good headlamp. You night think that wearing a headlamp on the noggin might be a litte geeky, but just to be able to see when it's dark and avoid potholes, roots, etc., mkes it worth the geek factor. Finally, sine I run on a trail with a lot of cyclists, I also have a little blinking red lamp (like most cyclists wear) that I clip onto the headlmp strap s I can be seen from behind. If it is tendonitis - there is only one way to heal - rest. Tendonitis is an overuse injury. Rest is the only way to heal. You will get some relief by taking anti-inflamatories - but you need to take some pretty massive doses. <br /><br />My son used to be a pitcher in high school. When he had tendonitis (it was repetitive, especially close to the end of a season), the doctor would have him take 800 mg of Ibuprofen (Motrin) three times a day for seven days. *And* no throwing for two weeks, *and* no pitching for six weeks.<br /><br />Knee tendonitis is a little bit of a bugger. To properly heal, swimming may even be verboten. Give yourself a few weeks of other activity. Once the pain in the knee is gone, start a strength training regimen before starting to run again.
