Weekend Workouts!

After my missed run Thursday, I almost didn't get up Friday. I forgot to reset my alarm from 6am to 5am but somehow woke up at 5:25am and still got in a 4.35 mile run.

Then Saturday I woke up and decided to run to the track. I ran about 2.3 miles to the track, ran a few laps around and attempted to run 2x400m (legs felt like lead) then ran back home. I love destination runs!! It was my longest run since my hip problems and my IT band was quite tight after wards.

Sunday I went to the gym with Kaylie for some weight lifting! This morning my hamstrings and shoulders were quite sore but I still went swimming!

The gym that I recently signed up for is about 0.5 miles from my apartment. It is decently nice and the one near me is a women only one but there are others around town that are co-ed. I think I like not having men at the gym especially for the classes and such.

And finally Congrats to ARON on a great marathon this past weekend! If you haven't already, go and read her race report here! Happy Monday!

I sort of love women only gyms/areas of gyms. I'm not intimidated by guys in the weights area, but there's something about a women's gym that feels more comfortable. My gym has a women-only area with some strength training equipment, free weights, and benches. It's nice to have that private little alcove to really pay attention to your form. I don't mind having guys in classes, though... I think they're often the ones that might feel out of place!

i LOVE all women gyms. if i had the choice i would go to one for sure.

great workouts!!! don't you love getting sore... and that's awesome you went swimming the next day i bet it helped you recover too get the blood flowing.

B+B= MarbleWest Inn in Dorset, VT. it's just next door (5mi) to Manchester which is a really cute town with shopping outlets. there are some other B+Bs here too-- tons!!!! the other one we were looking at was The Inn at Trails End further south... Wilmington, I think? a lot of B+Bs are struggling these days, and the one we are currently staying at is actually for sale!! :( but i would highly recommend it. very personal and nice and lots of perks-- food and such. plus you can get massages in house or take a private yoga class (more $$ but if it's a once a year type vaca... i would say go for it).

xoxo!!!!!

P.S. if you're coming to VT you should def make part of your trip to Burlington!!! lovely town. and if you are skiiers- LUDLOW-- a huge skiing town.

happy monday!!!!!!!

I've never heard of women-only gyms before, but I think its a great idea! I'm all for guys but something about having a women area for weight training makes sense.
Do you have any advice for dealing with runner's knee? Did you still run while you had it?

You're getting in all kinds of workouts over there!! Never been to a women-only gym, but I agree it'd be kinda nice for the class/weight lifting stuff ;)

What a weekend of great work outs! Good for you! I kind woosed out and didn't run as far as I wanted to on Saturday! I am just not loving running in the cold!

That is awesome that your gym is so close to your house! Mine is about a mile from where I park to catch the bus, which is really nice.

I just joined a gym recently that is across the street, so awesome to have it really close! Great job on fitting it all in, especially when you're sore!

Great job getting in the runs!

An all women's gym. That has to be nice.

Sounds like you've gotten some great workouts in! Nice job at the track, but hopefully your IT band is doing okay.

I have to agree as well, I really prefer a women's only facility. Too bad there aren't any conveniently near by though!

I go to the womens only section at lunch most days, then I don't get distracted and can get a workout in quickly.

I wish I had your discipline in the mornings, I plan to get up then hit snooze and it never happens!

Whenever I take a day off from the gym I always check my alarm that night at least 3 times before I go to sleep to make sure I reset it for 5am! My husband counts on it too, so I don't want to forget!

Great workouts! I've never tried a women's only gym and not sure what I'd think about it.

wow you really ARE a morning runner. impressive!! so is your hip holding up well? after this last round of PT i was in, he yanked my legs all aroun (almost like a chiro) and the nagging little deep hip joint pain i had for about three years is gone! so exciting. anyway, i thought of that when i read you did your sprints on the track since your hip pain and what not. now i'm just rambling ;)

Sometimes when i do workouts on the track (its been a while) i will run clockwise, then counterclock wise- it always helped from my IT band getting tight! If you havent tried it, give it a shot- it may help! but maybe i'm just crazy! :) great job on the workouts!!!!
