August

It may be the first of September but it still feels like August here! All week we have been experiencing a heat wave!!

Last night I finished off August with another tough workout with the running club. After a warm up on the trails, we did 1000m at tempo pace as a group and then split up. I headed off with two other women to do 4x1 mile repeats. We decided to do the repeats on a loop at the park that is about 1200m long but has some rolling hills. Thankfully the other women had garmins otherwise I would not have known when we had reached a mile.

My legs felt dead after the first mile and I wondered how I was going to complete the whole workout. The rolling hills of the course did not help much in my pace and I was wishing we were at the track!

4x1 miles with 1 min rest in between
7:05, 7:15, 7:29, 7:41

With last nights workout I finished August with 119.7 miles!! That is the most mileage I have ever run in one month! I was surprised with myself that I was able to increase from 20 miles a week to 25-29 miles a week and not feel completely wiped out. With the extra mileage I feel fitter and faster!

How was your August?? Happy Wednesday!

the heat is killing me!!!!!!!!!

AWESOME run! that is pretty much a tempo run instead of repeats b/c 1-min rest in between and running on rolling hills... THAT is kick-a$$ and super hard and you guys pushed the pace, nice work!!! happy september!

I don't know how you did mile repeats in that heat last night!! I think I am going to have to bail on my group and do some speedwork solo tomorrow morning. It is just too hot. :(

Congrats on the awesome workout and mileage milestone for August!

Well done on the mileage! You had a rocking month.

These Tues workouts sound so grueling, but I bet they are making such a difference in your speed/level of fitness/etc.

I just added up my mileage and I ran 152 in August!!! That kind of blows my mind a little bit!

I'm slightly exaggerating, but you seriously got in almost 100 miles more in your month than I did! I prefer to think August never happened. Nice work!!

that is a fabulous month's total!!! you are so set for the half.

I have high hopes that I'll still be running on the 12th...do you want to try and meet up? I'm sure it will be much easier than the Boilermaker!

Congratulations with your August mileage! It is so strange; I’m in South Africa so 1 September is the official start of spring for us. I’m not fast like you and train more for ultras. My August was 201.7 miles including zero speedwork.

What a great month of miles! Are you training for anything right now?

Wow, I read your Tour de Pain post too, sounds like a brutal week. Way to go beating your record! I wanted to share an article with the local running community, and after reading your post on how hard you've pushed, you might find it useful too. It's about how Thai-Yoga Massage can help runners prevent pain and injury. Here's the link, if you'd like to read it:
