Trader Joe's

Trader Joe's has finally come to my town!

After going to my usual Monday afternoon Yoga class with my running buddy, we decided to venture across the street to the new Trader Joe's that opened last Friday.  It is very convenient that it happened to open just across the street from where I go to yoga!

We browsed the aisles of fresh produce, frozen foods, cheese and chips.  I was amazed at all the different kinds of foods they actually had. AND I was amazed at how empty a lot of the shelves were - the place was so picked over.  Guess it is quite popular in this town.

Found some fun new foods I would be wiling to try and did some price comparison shopping to other groceries stores in the area.  Found that some items were cheaper at Trader Joe's and some were not.  Loved seeing the "Reduced Guilt" packages, especially this Mac & Cheese!

The one thing I remember to really look for was Almond Butter and they didn't even have any! So I was a little bummed about that.  Seems like they just don't stock it at this TJs.  I did end up buying a few items though.

They even gave me a bag to put my stuff in!  Seems I may be on a little bit of a pumpkin streak as I bought Pumpkin Spice Coffee, Pumpkin Spice Tea and a can of Organic Pumpkin to compare to Libby's Canned Pumpkin.

I doubt that Trader Joe's will become my sole grocery shopping place - it isn't exactly close to my house, there is a grocery store much closer that I will continue to use.  But it is nice to have options for food. And now when I see all these recipes online that call for Trader Joe's ingredients, I might actually be able to include them if I want.

Yeah, I only go to TJs once a month. I might get normal groceries, but I really go there to stock up on wheat free bread, nuts (they have the cheapest raw/roasted nuts ever), almond and sunflower butter, hummus and wine.

We have a few TJs out here but not too close... which is good because they have a lot of vegan yummies. Are you going to go for the cookie butter? If they ever have it, that is ;)

The one in my town is just up the street, but I still have to add it to the rotation of my shopping because they never have everything I need. Luckily they are right next store to a Vons so I can hit up both if need be.

They just had a big recall on their Almond Butter so that may be why they don't have it yet.

I LOVE TJ's! The frozen section does have some semi healthy options for quick meals. I like the fire roasted onion and bell pepper mix and the pizza with tomatoes and cheese on top. Also love the nut butters, affordable organic fruit/veg, healthyish chips and affordable wine. Definitely not a one stop shopping kind of place, but I do love it. Oh and their cheese section!

The nice thing about TJs is that - in my opinion - all their frozen stuff is really good. I like to have a couple extra frozen meals for lunches and dinners hanging around for busy days/nights. It's actually cheaper than our regular grocery store, too (especially for almond butter, actually). I wonder if the lack of almond butter is due to the recall.

I'm so jealous! I love Trader Joe's. Even if I don't have a list when I get there, I end up getting so much. Who ever thought food shopping could be so fun?!

So jealous!!!

We finally got a Whole Foods within an hour drive last year. Can't wait for TJ, if it ever happens.

Enjoy the goodies!

May I make a suggestion!? We love their Raw White Cheddar Cheese! It is the BEST!... and its raw! yay! And their tortilla wraps are delicious!

Hooray for having a Trader Joe's close by! I wish our nearest one was closer than 2 hours from here.

Super DUPER jealous!!! I freaking love TJ's!! There was one in Atlanta (about 2 hours from where we lived in GA) and anytime I had to go to ATL I made sure we conveniently drove by the Tj's. LOL! But now living in the middle of the dessert I have no access to TJ's. Sad face!

Excellent! TJ's started here in Southern California as a (believe it or not) liquor store! Don't know what I would do without it these days!
