Already Wednesday

I walked to the gym and then back again for my run yesterday and it was COLD!!! I stopped at the library to pick up a book that had come in for me. Part of my brain runs on a library book return calender because I am always planning out my reading (at this moment I have 4 books on my desk at home plus the one I am reading right now.) I never have time to read while taking classes because my coursework is so demanding. My library calender has already hit December as that is when the book I just picked up is due! That means that Christmas (my favorite time of year) is just around the corner!!

For my workout yesterday I headed in with a plan and I FAILED...
I was at about 3.5 miles and I didn't know how I was going to make it through the other half of the workout to 7 miles. Then my towel fell off and hit the treadmill and went flying out behind me onto the floor. So I was stuck without a towel and the sweat was just dripping off me. At 5 miles I stopped and got the towel back by my momentum was shot and I ended up stopping at 6.4 miles. It may seem like I was close but with the warm-up and then the stop to pick up the towel I had to go to about 7.4 miles.

I know I have lost some of my distance endurance but I keep telling myself that I will be able to get it back next May when I finish track and start training again for longer races. I do feel though that having endurance is important for me to maintain and improve through the 6 months of track season. I did enjoy running for over 50 minutes even if it didn't feel good at all. My breathing was normal but my legs just were not into it.

Today is 200m repeats at practice and then I am off to meet my parents and their friends for dinner! I brought out my scarfs this morning and my gloves so I was all bundled on my way to work! I love that cozy feeling a homemade scarf gives me! Happy Wednesday!

I love reading. I am always seeing a book that looks interesting. However, half the time I forget the name or author. I could spend hours in Barnes & Noble or Borders.

I have the same problem with reading. I'm really good at grabbing 3 or 4 books and getting started on all of them, but then have trouble finishing. So now, I'm sticking to one book at a time rule.

No sweat about missing a mile on the treadmill. It'll come back in due time!

It sounds like you still had a good workout. I bet on another day you could feel great and speed through seven miles and feel great!! :)

YOur towel story makes me think of my treadmill drop story-- In college I was on a treadmill once with one of those "old school" cd players... and i dropped it... and it landed on the belt, rode off the back,... and OF COURSE-- i turned to watch it go off the belt and yeah actually turned while running on the treadmill-- d'oh. I TOO RODE OFF THE BACK OF THE TREADMILL and landed on my butt and rolled like someone in a spy movie doing a stunt. luckily i was completely fine. just a little bit shaken at how fast it all happened. hahaha.

I love reading, too! I recently bought 6 books and started on 1 but not sure when I'll get through the rest of it!

Give yourself a little break. You've been working out really hard!!

I have stacks of books from the library. Every time I go, I think I'll read this book about Arabic, making meals in 30-minutes, the theory of democracy, etc and then I get home and think, "Why the heck did I ever borrow that book?"

I can't run over an over. I start slowing down. I need to just do an out and back so I'm not tempted to stop, but 6.4 on a treadmill is awesome!

Any book recommendations?

I wouldn't worry about the endurance. It just takes patience and time to rebuild that, whereas building the kind of speed you've got takes sweat and a certain degree of pain!

ohhh i love scarves and gloves :)

dont worry your endurance will come back!! i am sure its hard to try and get both the short speed and the endurance at the same time... you are BUSY and doing an awesome job at track!

I think I read 2-3 books at once. There's always one in a room that I'm part of the way through. Suggestions for future readings?

Reading is a favorite hobby of mine, although it gets harder to find time as I get older!

Good job on the running, even if you didn't hit your goal, you were pretty close!!

It is so cold! I have a vision of you walking to the library with a stack of books. So cute. You'll get your endurance back - 4-5 is still great!

I seem to read every running book I can get my hands on. It's a sad little addiction.
