A perfect Christmas Break

After a busy and slightly stressful Christmas (I hosted Christmas Day for the first time EVER!), things are finally back to normal and I am grateful to have this week between Christmas and New Years' off.

But I haven't been as productive as I wanted to be.  I have been slightly lazy in some ways.  I seem to have enough energy to get up at 5am and get to the gym for my weekly Total Body class but after that I am unable to move from the couch all day.

Let's take today for example...

4:48am - Alarm goes off, turn on light and drag myself out of bed to get ready for the gym.

5:13am - Arrive at gym and head to the treadmill.  Soon my running buddy joins me on the treadmill next to me and we talk as we run.

6:00am - Total Body class starts, I still stink at the aerobics warm up although I am getting a little bit better.  I am still sore from class Tuesday, which makes all the lunges, squats and pushups even harder.

7:05am - Once class is finished, I head back to the treadmill because I didn't get in as much mileage before class as I wanted.  After a mile, I stop and head home.

7:50am - Home and showered and making breakfast.  I settle in on the couch with my book and don't move until lunch.  One book down and four to go!

12:00pm - Make lunch for Brian, who is not lazy like me and is actually doing work around the house.  We eat together and then I return to the couch and Brian goes back to work.

1:37pm - I sneak into my Christmas stocking and take out some candy for a snack.

1:40pm - Return to stocking for more Christmas candy.  Must. stop. eating. candy!

And that's where I am at for today.  Still time for me to turn this day around and be semi-productive!

Do you have this week off from work?  How are you spending this week??

Don't feel bad! That is how I would spend the week (or a day!) if I had one off without a zillion things planned/visitors. Enjoy the peace and quiet!

Haha! I seem to have the candy issue as well, but at least I try to eat it right after my runs. I am seriously doing this without thinking now.

Sounds like an amazing Christmas break to me!!

At least you got up early and got to the gym. And reading books is not a waste of time! Enjoy the chance to be lazy while you have it; I'm guessing it doesn't come often!

That's what Christmas break is for! I'm managed to work out 3 days this week, but have not done much else other than watch tv and movies and sleep in. I might work up to baking some muffins this afternoon, but I don't want to over do it!

I am impressed you've been getting up early for your gym class! Well done, you! And I think vacations are meant to be easy going and lazy. We work so hard most of the year, you earned some downtime to do things like read!

I do not have any time off this week. Our company gives us the Mondays after Christmas and New Years off, though, so that is nice! And I get to leave when the market closes at 1 tomorrow, so it's a short day. No complaints here!

I'm sorry, I can't get past the fact that you got up at 4:48 AM on your VACATION :-|

I am off work this week and it has been epically lazy in regards to workouts but really productive in regards to getting things done around the house! I'm going to run tomorrow though!!

You worked hard all year, you deseve a week of relaxation. It's great to get your workout out of the way early and then just chill! Happy new year!

I ate so much candy last week, it's not even funny. Also spent a LOT of time on the couch. It's okay, it's good for the soul now and then. :)
