Three Things Thursday

1. First of all I had trouble falling asleep last night and it has been this way all week! Usually I am asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow but this week my mind just races and I can't calm it down for about 45 minutes!  Last night my mind is running wild with thousands of thoughts and I begin to wonder if I am having trouble sleeping because of over training but that doesn't even make sense since I only run 20 miles a week!!  I finally fell asleep only to be awoken at 3:45am because of throbbing pain in my second to last toe on my right foot.  It was quite painful for no good reason!!

2. I got up at 5am for my run and my toe was still feeling funny but I thought - "I am only running 2 miles, no big deal!"  So I headed out and ran 2 miles in 14:11 and then jogged the last half mile home.  I keep trying to find a way to run two miles without encountering any hills but sadly it is almost impossible to do!!  The toe hurt a bit while running and is still tender but I am sure I will live!

3. Tomorrow after work, Brian and I are headed to visit his family.  His sister had a baby boy on March 5th and we finally get to see him!  It should be a fun filled weekend!

Happy Thursday!!

That does sound like a fab weekend! I love babies... totally get baby fever... until it cries or poops. LOL! :)

I hear ya on the not sleeping... not sleeping it plaguing my life because I just have too much going on. I hope you get some sleep tonight and rest that toe missy!

i wouldn't worry about overtraining too much, but the effects are cumulative so if youve been putting in intensity over the past few weeks it could be catching up to you now.

hope the sleep gets better! and i think i missed what's going on with the toe. if it's waking you up i'd see a doctor, if only for peace of mind. hope that gets better too :)

Definitely sounds like a good/fun weekend ahead! :)

I hear ya on those hills - I love the idea of getting a quick/short run in during the morning, but ugh, nothing "easy" around here! sheesh. that was a speedy 2 miles over there though!

Ugh I hate when I can't sleep. Usually I have trouble falling asleep but this morning I woke up at 4am and couldn't get back!! The worst.
I find that when I have trouble falling asleep, there is something I can do to fix it. If I'm stressed, I make sure I allow at least an hour before bed to read and relax (ie. no computer, tv, phone). If I feel amped up, it may be because I haven't worked out much that week, or if I'm cramped up and sore I may have worked out too hard. Good luck! I hope you figure things out!

Have fun visiting Brian's new nephew! How exciting!

I had trouble falling asleep earlier this week. Part of it was the excitement of returning to my old company, but then it continued on for a few days. So frustrating!!

Thanks for all your supportand mojo the past couple of weeks J! I've been through this beore, but always kind of snapped out of it by putting a race on my schedule. This time, racing doesn't even seem appealing. I'm changing up a bit and doing more trail/wildeness stuff to see if the change in scenery does the trick.

I went through a few weeks of troubled sleep. Totally sucks. I feel your pain! Hopefully you'll be able to sleep better over the weekend when you're in a different place. Maybe the change in environment will help!

Have a great weekend!
