New Running Gear

Every time I go to a race, I always see women in running skirts and I really wanted to try one out! Nicole from RunnerNic was nice enough to send me a running skirt that she had that she wasn't using! Thanks so much Nicole!! When I got it in the mail I was so excited to try it! I would have taken pictures pre-run but this morning it was so dark out.

A little sweaty...

So I ran in the skirt this morning and I really liked it. This skirt has built in spandex shorts which was nice, they didn't ride up and I felt comfortable to whole run.

I did a fartlek run, as suggested by the coach from the track workout on Tuesday. My legs were still a little tight from the track but the burst of speed made this run very enjoyable.
I ran 15 x 1 minute fartleks with 30 seconds fast, 30 seconds medium easy.

Below is a picture of (one pair of) my current running shoes, men's Nimbus' (I also have women's 1150's). The men's shoes have almost 500 miles on them and are still going strong, the women's have 250 miles and feel like they are dying. I have always run in Asics but I am thinking of switching. Over the weekend I went to the local running store and tried on a bunch of shoes. I ended up buying a pair of Brooks but then returned them last night because I am afraid to switch. What kind of shoes do you run in? Why do you like them?

Saturday Brian and I are running in another 5k! Happy Thursday (almost the weekend!!)

Cute skirt! Glad you like it.

I've been wearing the same pair (well, not the same pair, but the same KIND) of shoes for 2+ years now... Saucony Progrid Stabil CS. I love them and I have no idea what I will do if they change or stop making them!

Cute skirt! looks comfy too!

I ran in Asics for years, and switched to Nike Zooms in March. I can't get over the difference, it's a flatter shoe so I strike on my forefoot now instead of my heel.

Very cute skirt!

I recently ordered one from their online sale that was lost in the mail (I think stolen at my apartment complex office) and never got it :( one day I'll look as cute as you in a skirt!

Cute Skirt, I've been reading more and more about these running skirts and it's nice to read some honest reviews on them!!

I just purchased a new pair of running shoes, New Balances. I have always used NBs and was totally open to switching it up.. but they ended up being the most true fitting comfortable line for me.. I guess if you find what works, stick with it! Haha :)

I love the skirt! I have one someone gave me but it is a little big on me :(
I also run in Asics 1150s. I really do like them but I can tell they don't last long. I've gotten a new pair a couple months ago.

Love the running skirt! Too cute!

I wear Brooks Trance and love them. I used to where asics, but started having knee pains and switched.. I don't think the knee pains were from the shoes, but the new Brooks were a perfect fit and more comfy than the asics.

I LOVE the skirt! It looks awesome on you. I have yet to try one but I want to!

I run in Adidas supernova glides. I like them a lot- I have a high arch and I haven't really had any issues resulting from them.

I'd be careful running in Men's shoes since shoes are made pretty gender specific now. Have you been fit for a shoe before? That's the biggest thing, just knowing what you need. Once you have that down you can switch brands and be pretty OK. I love Brooks. It's all I've run in but I know how great Asics is too. Have you looked into the Ghost 3? I rave about it because I've found it and loved it. It's light weight and comparable to the Asics Cumulus series.

I love your skirt!! What kind is it? I love my asics. I have tried others, but I always go back to my asics. I have a few of the 2130s that I'm working through right now (I tend to buy a few at a time).

I hope it wasn't too hot this morning for your 5K!

J - If I remember, you have an iFitness belt. Do you like it? Recommend it?

That skirt is darling. I love wearing them but not to run in LOL.

I LOVE Mizunos WaveAlchemy9. I had 8 for awhile too. I tried some New Balance and my connection with them didn't last. I really really missed Mizunos....so I went back...and I'm happy!!

I've always been an Asics guy. I tried switching once to Saucony, but my knees and hips revolted on anything over 6 miles.
