Touch your toes

I have been stretching. Every day. And I still cannot touch my toes!

I haven't been able to touch my toes since I was little! My hamstrings feel so tight and do not want to loosen! I am going to keep working on it and maybe some day I will be more flexible!

Can you touch your toes?

This cracked me up! Mostly because I have never been able to touch my toes either! I remember doing the "Presidential Physical Fitness Test" in elementary school and having to practice for weeks for the "sit n reach" where you try to reach past your toes.

While it would be nice to be flexible (for example, maybe then I could do yoga?), lots of studies show that stretching does not decrease injury rates anyway so I no longer stretch at all. Saves me some time, I guess:)

Yes I can! But, I am also only 5'3"! My goal is to touch my nose to the top of my leg/knee while stretching on the floor and placing my palms on the floor while stretching standing up! :)

Happy Monday!

i used to be soooo flexible. but i'm not anymore. i'm blaming it on me getting older and not me being lazy and not stretching enough ;)

I can usually touch my toes, but definitely not on the first try. I think part of it has to do with how our bodies are put together. I can't do any kind of straddle stretch, but bending forward isn't too hard for me. Keep working at it!

Yeah, I look a lot like that too! I will say I've been going to yoga lately, and it has helped a bit.

I am sooo not flexible! Even when I used to do yoga regularly, I STILL could not touch my toes.

I used to be the most inflexible person ever. Once I started practicing yoga regularly I gradually was able to touch my toes. Hot yoga has made me even more flexible in recent months!

Nope, I can not touch my toes unless I slightly bend my knees which is totally cheating... I used to be really flexible but have lost that as I've gotten older...

It's going to take you a while, a year ago I couldn't get near my toes, but now I can put my hands flat on the floor!

I can JUST touch my toes if I leaned down right now with cold legs.

After an hour in the hot room at hot yoga I can put my hands under my feet :-)

Try doing yoga? Maybe it'll help with your hamstring flexibility!

I'm always surpised when people can't do this, but so many people can't! I think I have ape like arms or something because I'm not very flexible, but this has always been easy for me.

Nope, I am about as flexible as you are, which makes yoga interesting...

I spent 16 years as a ballerina and was way more flexibly back then, but I could never do it. I remember one day sitting on the floor beside other girls who could reach over and put their hands around their toes and I couldn't... and I noticed that my legs were WAY longer than everyone else's. Sometimes I wonder if there is a length that just isn't possible for you to bend and reach.

If you keep at it, I bet you'll get a lot closer! Yoga and regular stretch stretch stretching will help. Be sure to breathe a lot too! I can usually touch my toes although i'm having a little hammy issue this week and last so it's a bit harder.

Aaah I can't do that either. It does my head in. Especially when we're boxing and most of the lads can do it and I can't haha

I’ve never been able to touch my toes either. My muscles are just too short. Don’t worry though, Bruce Fordyce, one of the greatest ultra runners of all time, can’t touch his toes either. He was never able to do that even when at the peak of his running career. If you don’t know about Bruce Fordyce, I wrote a post about him some time back, you can read it here: http://runtallwalktall.blogspot.com/2010/05/my-running-hero.html

I can't quite touch my toes, but I certainly can't take pictures without using my hands. How did you get that second shot?

WOW! I am shocked at how many commenters say they can not touch their toes!

I can easily touch my toes and the floor behind my feet. I never realized this was such an issue for others. It makes me wonder if it is a fitness issue or a genetic trait??

Good Luck working on your flexiblity.

cute picture!! i stretch my hamstring while brushing my teeth. yes, i brush my teeth upside down. i'm one of those people everyone hates...i'm naturaly flexible. i can stand on the palms of my hands. maybe i have monkey arms? a longer torso and shorter legs? lol i dunno. i do stretch a lot tho.
keep up the good work, you'll get there!

I can touch my toes! Doing forward folds in yoga has really helped me become more flexible. I bet that would help you too!

Too funny! I'm definitely not as flexible as I use to be but I can touch my toes :)

I have never been flexible. When they tested my flexibility in grade school, I was always in the 95th percentile, which meant that 95% of the population my age more flexible that I was.
