Surprise!

Each day Christmas gets closer and closer and my list of things to accomplish gets longer and longer!

Last night I went to the gym and had my first of four *free* personal training sessions. It was a joke. The woman even tried to talk me out of running because "it really isn't the best thing for you". Uhhh yeah.

Who watched the Biggest Loser Finale last night? I did and there were some pretty amazing transformations! Honestly I could not believe how Tracey and Danny looked.

This morning it was snowy and sleeting but I braved the roads to the pool and got a quick swim in.

Speaking of swimming - Like the title of this post says, I do have a surprise. I happened to receive a Fleet Feet newsletter Monday morning at work. I quickly scanned through and found this:

Sunday, December 13th (7am to 12pm) - Eastside YMCA Indoor Triathlon.

The wheels in my brain started to turn and by the end of the day (with some helpful advice from Glenn) I was signed up.

NOW before you all go and tell me "I TOLD YOU SO!" I just wanted to make it clear that this does not mean I plan on doing outdoor Tris. I don't even have a bike! I just needed some sort of race and this happens to be an option.

It's a 15 minute swim, 15 minute bike, 15 minute treadmill run kind of thing and I am excited but also very nervous. So please leave your thoughts, concerns, and advice!

Happy Wednesday!

I would have punched that trainer out. :)
Our run clinic has a bunch of triathletes and they are an amazing group. the indoor tri sounds fantastic.

OK I have said I wont do Tri's but that sounds really fun.. I could totally do an indoor Tri under those parameters...because there are no hills inside.

I would still be afraid of the other people in the pool drowning me. LOL

hehehe...!! surprise!!! congrats on your jump, can't wait for you to make it happen. very very brave but hey you have been swimming so really you have got it in the bag. just make sure you enjoy yourself! you only get one first Tri!!! :) I'm using that advice for everything applicable, love it!

and i can't believe a trainer tried to talk you out of running. clearly she is not jillian. GO TBL! THEY looked fabulous! i love danny and rudy and goodness gracious rebecca... holy macaroni! but seriously good for them. i wish TBL would do a follow-up and keep in touch with the contestants of seasons past. i miss them when they are gone! and wonder how they are doing!!! glad shay will be back at least...

I hate it when people try to talk me out of being a long distance runner because it is soooo bad for you. REALLY??? leave me the heck alone people. I love it....

I am doing an indoor tri here at my Y in March. It is 20 min swim, bike run... the run is on the indoor, elevated track... yuck. It takes like 18 laps to complete a mile, but 20 min shouldnt be to bad. Good luck.

Love how the trainer tried to talk you out of running... I guess that you got what you paid for...

Seriously though, I feel bad for all the good trainers out there who's jobs and reputation are tarnished by ignorant trainers with 50 dollar internet diplomas...

How crazy about the trainer, I bet it's cuz she knows you'd kick her ass in a race! I wish there would be indoor tri's around here! ENJOY it! Have fun, and I can't wait to hear more about it.

AN indoor tri sounds so fun! You'll do great!

What was the deal with the trainer? That sounds so strange.

Hi J, I give it 3 weeks. 3 weeks from now you will have your 2010 tri schedule all lined up! :-P

I think a lot of ppl lookup to runners and admire them. Sounds like there's some jealousy issues for your trainer. I've never met a single person who has tried to talk me out of running, everyone says "wow, I wish I should run." Sounds like what your trainer wishes she cld run too!

Ugg I would not want that PT.. I loathe anti-runner types.
The indoor tri sounds fun (and maybe just maybe an outdoor one will follow? :))

I did an indoor tri and loved it (althought outside is better). Don't worry about the pool - they usually go in waves at the Y, so you get your own lane and an assistant who counts your laps. Go for it! It is a good way to beat winter boredom!

This is the first time I've heard of an indoor tri. Sounds like fun! Can't wait to read about the experience! Good luck!

Thats SOOO weird you got this letter because i was looking online for fun races to do in the winter last night and found an indoor triathalon in michigan- its the exact same as yours only you do everything for 20 minutes instead of 15!

I think you should do it! I'm not that good of a swimmer (i can swim) but i was really considering- it sounds fun! go for it!

Bad bad bad trainer!!! That trainer needs re-educated.

Indoor Tri sounds awesome.

TBL - OMGosh! Tracy looked like an athlete! She totally proved that she was there to do it. I can't wait to see how she maintains. and Danny well, all of them. It was amazing. And Shaye getting that $1000/lb for next year. I so hope she has the support to do it.

Good Luck on Sunday!

Sounds kind of fun to me. I have no advice other than to just do your best but don't get hung up on meeting certain goals. Have a great time and enjoy doing something different.
