I'm not ready

I am not ready to give up the treadmill yet.

I know that its no longer blizzarding out but somehow 30 degree weather has become cold to me.

The rain and wind have been a constant for the last three days so this morning and Saturday morning as well, I went to the gym to get my runs in.

I took it easy Saturday with only 2.25 miles because I had run my usual weekly mileage (~20 miles) in three days (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday).  Thursday I just was way too ambitious and ran 5.5 miles on my second run when the weather was so nice!  My legs were a bit tired from the total of 9.5 miles and I was actually sore Friday morning.

So now it is the beginning of a new week of running and with the clocks changing it is once again super dark in the mornings.  Tomorrow is supposed to be interval Tuesday and I keep flip flopping in my head about whether I should do my usual morning treadmill routine or try to get out and run the intervals on the track in the afternoon!?

It is just hard to give up on my old buddy the treadmill, who has been there for me through the whole winter.

Stay Tuned....Happy Monday!

We are opposites when it comes to the treadmill... I avoid it at all costs and you don't want to give it up. :)

I'm also trying to decide what to do for Tuesday intervals tomorrow... hmmmmm.......

You're too funny! I avoid the dreadmill like it has the plague!

I wish i could be diligent on the treadmilll! I'm glad it works for you, it actually hurts me more when I do treadmill workouts long term:(
Good luck this week.

I know what you mean about the treadmill. I am 50/50 on it but sometimes I get so addicted to it - the thought of running outside makes me cringe! This weather totally sucked this weekend.

hmmm, if you're still in treadmill mode, go for it. the track is probably really wet anyway. The great thing is that you're really motivated to run!

It's impressive that you can have such a good attitude about the treadmill - you're one of the few people I know who actually use it as intended for workouts!
I say phase it out as it starts to get lighter. Don't feel badly about running in a safety of your home when it's dark!

ugh being wet and cold is seriously the worst. i've gotten outside, but if a treadmill was more convenient (i.e. in my house) i would prob run on that for shorter runs. it is supposed to stop raining tomorrow!!!!! finally! and the wind is killer. there is flooding all around me, it is craaaazy!!! roads are shut down, etc etc. wahhhh. :)

happy monday!!!

I was not happy when I left the gym at 7:30 this morning (late for me) and it was still kind of dark out! Hopefully once the rain and gloominess passes through it will be a little lighter! I can't wait to run in the park a few mornings this week!

I wish I could have your enthusiasm about the treadmill! I hope that you have a great week! I am dragging today because of the time change!

You and that love affair with the treadmill. I don't know how you do it. :o)

Can you share your secret as to how you came to enjoy the treadmill? Sometimes it is the lesser of two evils for me as I hate the cold more than I hate the treadmill, but I still hate the treadmill!

Glad I'm not the only one who likes the treadmill : )
I definitely hear what you're saying, I think I'm sticking with it for at least a couple more weeks!

I usually do my wkend miles outside, ie my long run and slow-ish & steady. So when I hit the mill I think speed work. It makes it hard for me to run a straight 3mi on the mill.

Spring will be there soon. We've had some nice spring weather in the south.

It's funny how addictive that thing can be after awhile. I know I was hesitant about taking my first run outside, but once I did it, I can't bring myself to get back on. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

i've been hitting up the gym lately too. i just can't seem to face going outside in the nastiness!

but as my advisor pointed out to me: it's probably a good thing this gross weather is happening so you won't run so damn much hahah! what are we going to do when real spring is here and the weather is nice all the time?!

I'm so mad about DST! It was just starting to get nice and light at 6:30 am when I run and now it's dark again. Grr! Haha

I agree with you 100%!! Every year its hard- i notice even though its been nice out, i dont feel like running outside either. I also noticed that it was hard for me to start running on the treadmill in the fall/early winter and its been hard for me lately to get outside. I'm glad i'm not alone and I'm glad you made a post about this because I feel the exact same way!!! :)

Maybe it will be in the 60s and that will be enough to drag our TM loving bootys outside! ;)

That's crazy. Not ready to give up the treadmill? I'd think you'd be more than ready to hit the pavement for some snow free running. I guess 30's is still pretty cold though.

Hey, I ran barefoot on the beach today :P. That hot, humid Florida weather you had on vacation is now mid 60's and very, very nice.

If you enjoy the treadmill, why don't you continue using it? And maybe taper in some outdoor runs gradually? You'll make the right decision.

I actually have the opposite problem. I have been trying to run outdoors even though the trails are completely covered in snow and the weather (until this last weekend) has been a little chilly. I think my problem is that since I am a beginner I don't want to "deceive" myself into thinking I can run a 12 min mile when really it's more like 15 min mile (I know, pretty slow...). I have found myself moving inside more this week but am hoping this weeks predicted warm weather will have me outside again.
It will get better for you as the sun starts to come up earlier and it gets warmer :-)!

I am glad somebody love teh treadmill. I don't know how you do it. Hope the weather warms up and you can venture outside.

We had gorgeous weather here this weekend so I was so pissed that I couldn't get a long run in on Sunday. It got up to 64!! Hopefully I will be back to running soon.

Speaking of which, time to go do my PT exercises...

You are one of the first Runners I have read with a LOVE for the treadmill..

You were totally right on the crochet stitch - it is a double crochet stitch. Or at least I hope it is - I taught myself by reading a book & seeing pictures of the steps of each stitch. I think I have it right!

Everyone tells me that crocheting is so much easier/faster but so far i feel like i am so slow!
