Mini Run

If the past few days are any indication of what winter will be like then we are in for a long, cold and snowy next few months!

The snow started falling on Saturday night and has night let up since! We are supposed to get another 3-5 inches today!

Start of the snow - Saturday night

Monday morning I decided to brave the snowy roads at 5am and go to the gym. My car was covered in about 7 inches of snow. Cleaning it off was a workout in itself.

I got to the gym safely and settled in on the elliptical. My knee felt good so after 30 minutes, I jumped on the treadmill.

4 minutes of running! I covered 0.5 miles and felt no knee pain which was amazing and even surprised me. I guess all those PT exercises really have been helping!

Today my knee doesn't hurt or ache which I take is a good sign! Just to be safe I am going to wait and run tomorrow. Don't want to rush back into running and then hurt myself again!

Anyone brave enough to get out and run in the snow?? I wish I could but for now I am sticking to the treadmill because it is
1) better for my knee and
2) safer because there is just too much snow on the roads.

Stay safe! Happy Tuesday!

I like to run in the snow, however we don't get enough here to say so. That may be why I say that I like to run in it, because if I had to very often I may change my mind :)

The times I have it was fun and everything felt so still and quiet. At times I miss living in the north with the snow..... at times.

Grapes on a salad sounds good!! We really do have the same favorites:)

I'm glad you haven't had any knee pain! I had some knee pain after the marathon, but haven't had any since then. :) Those PT exercises do really help!

I haven't ran outside in such a long time. I would like to get into the habit of running outdoors on Saturday or Sunday mornings, though!

Looks like the same weather we are having. Not so fun to run in... snow OR wind OR cold is manageable, but all three makes for tough running!

yay for no knee pain!

I kind of like running in the snow, I bought a pair of yak trax last year. It's the ice that scares me!

Oh boy. That snow. I have received several picture texts of the snow back in Illinois. I send back pictures of me in a tank-top (because I am just mean like that). I will be back in Chicago in a few days to visit... I am scared!! At least it's beautiful!

That picture looks like it would be a good freeze frame of a scary movie - I love it!

As for running in the snow, fortunately I haven't had to - and I'm not sure I want to. I love the snow, but running in it sounds kind of nerve wracking!

I'm usually not much of a snow runner. If it's sunny outside, sure, but 5 am - no way. The gym is a much safer place for me! Glad the knee pain is subsiding!

Yeah for running pain-free!! I have some issues with my hip since the marathon and I can totally understand how you feel. Be careful and listen to your PT :)

So happy the knee is finally behaving! Crossing my fingers it keeps it up!
And I can totally relate to the dress expenses! I remember looking at price tags the first time and being blown away. But you can be very smart about it - don't settle! Good luck girlie!

glad there was no pain! i hope it continues!

i have been avoiding running in the snow this year so far just because there is too much ice right now. Not feeling like hurting myself so I'm sticking to the treadmill.

No pain = awesome! When I lived in Utah I loved to run in the snow.. it was mostly the cold air and what it did to my lungs that kept me inside. :)

This is my first year of outdoor winter running as I usually stuff my runners in the back of the closet at the first sign of snow. I put screws in my shoes for traction and am really enjoying it!
