Back To Work

It was hard to get up this morning after sleeping in for the last week. 4:40am came too quickly and I think I didn't actually become fully awake until I got to the gym at 5am.

I get up early so often I have figured out exactly how long it takes me to get up, get changed, get myself out the door and to the gym so I set my alarm for the latest possible moment. Plus I pack my bags at night so that I know I wont forget anything. Although I have forgotten a towel and socks on different occasions!

I have never slept in my workout/running clothes though. Well I take that back I did once in college. I went to bed at 3am and had to wake up at 5am for basketball practice. I left my roommate a note to make sure I woke up (she was on the team too), changed into my bball practice gear and went to sleep.

Morning Workout:
15 minute warm up on the Elliptical
4 miles on the treadmill
10 minutes of weights

When I first arrived and stepped onto the elliptical there weren't a lot people there - just the regulars. Slowly, as I did my warm up, more and more people started to come in.

The treadmill run was tough since I only had the TV's and people watching to distract me - my iPod hasn't come out of hibernation yet (aka I keep forgetting to charge it). The people watching was especially fun this morning because there were a lot of new faces. It seems like a lot of people decided they would set resolutions to loose weight.

4 miles done and I was a sweaty mess. Something about running inside always makes me sweat more than if I run outdoors. The weight lifting was cut short as I was going to be late to work.

I may have been able to drag myself to the gym this morning but I am sure it will get harder as the week goes on. Plus the gym will be crazy with all the new years resolution people!

Which is worse - getting up early on Monday morning to work out or Friday morning?
Friday's are the toughest for me. By the end of the week, I don't want to leave my warm bed!

Have a great Monday!

I am very impressed that you get up so early! If I got up that early consistently, I woudl be in bed at like 8 pm! ;) I have thought about trying to work out in the morning, though, as it's tough to find time in the evenings to work out.... but I just don't know if I have it in me to get up that early... and I would need to change gyms as there is no way I coudl get ready in the ghetto locker room of my Y. I know that sounds snobby, but it's awful!!!

Fridays are easier for me b/c I know I can sleep in (a little) the next day. Great job getting to the gym and getting it done!

I was expecting to see more runners out on the weekend due to resolutions, but I was all by myself. I'm avoiding the gym today though because I think it will be busy!

It definitely gets harder for me to get up early as the week goes on.

Monday mornings are REALLY tough for me to get a workout in, since I have to be out the door and on the way to the airport by 6:30am, and my gym doesn't open till 6am. Today, since I knew that my hotel gym doesn't have a pullup bar, I went to my regular gym after showering just so I could do my pullups, since I won't be able to for the rest of the week. Less than 5 minutes later and I was OUT!

I've slept in my race clothes the night before a race - but mostly when I was sharing a hotel room and forgot my pajamas :)

Congrats on getting to the gym today!

It takes a good two weeks to get used to the early morning routine! I'm the same except I took 2 weeks off from early mornings - I'm in trouble! But I will say Fridays are the hardest...that's why I take them as a rest day before long run Saturday... :)

Fridays are actually my favorite day to work out - I know I get to sleep in or just hang out on Saturday! I usually run/exercise in the evening though, which might make it easier.

My worst day is Wednesday. I have serious hump-day blues when Wednesday rolls around.

It's SO hard to get back into the early wake up routine after time off! And darn those resolution makers--they clog the gyms for one month, then go back to their old ways.

Woohoooo 4 miles! I hope those miles are still pain-free! I"m glad your knee is doing better!

My alarm went off at 440 today, too. I went back to sleep. Whoops.

Tomorrow WILL be better!!

I am not much of a morning person either. I set my coffee pot on timed brew so I only have to make my way out to the kitchen and pour a cup when my alarm goes off.

Nice workout and dedication to the morning routine. I find that much tougher than after work!
