Saturday he spent most of the day hanging lights from every portion of our house and also from many of the bushes in the front yard. He then ran out of extention cords so he had to make a quick trip to the hardware store.
I waited and waited for him to come home, almost an hour later he finally returned with an extension cord and something else. At first he tried to hide the fact that he had made a purchase besides the cord but I was not to be fooled.
Soon there was another little addition to our yard...a Christmas lamp post. He had been begging me to let him buy this hideous thing for weeks and I firmly refused. I let him deck the house out with strands and strands of lights but I was not going to allow a silly, tacky lamp post to be placed in my front yard.
Now I am sorry to anyone who has this lamp post - its actually not that ugly - but I do not want that in my yard and so now its just principle. Saturday happened to be a windy day and before I knew it the lamp post had made its way inside and into the foyer. Apparently this lamp post was not sturdy enough to handle the winds and so it was going to makes its home inside.
Well I flatly refused! I told Brian to pack it back up and take it back to the store. It has not yet moved from its place inside.
I am not giving up yet....it may just disappear on of these days....

Haha. I hope you win the battle. And have a great Thanksgiving!
Hahaha, at our house I am more likely to be the one sneaking tacky Christmas decorations into the house against Mark's wishes.
I would love to see a picture of the lights!
The lamp post argument totally cracks me up. I really want this singing stuffed holoday monkey from Target, but would have to go covert to get it too :)
OMG-- that is pretty bad. He should pick his battles carefully and not fight you on this one!
I'd have to say I'm anti Christmas lamp post too. This is too funny!
:)
Lol. I think it's hilar that he is so passionate about owning this lamp post. I am w/ you, I wouldn't want it either!!
The lamp post is ok, but does it have to have the Santa flag on it? I'm going to have a post soon about some items the BF picked up, but at least they were edible!
Omg...too funny!! Now I think you have to keep it. But maybe do something funny to it -- or hide it somewhere in your house for him to find it. LOL! YAy for your first married christmas!! :)
Hey and Happy Thanksgiving! Tagged you in today's post: http://marleneontherun.com/2011/11/24/blackjack-21-things/
Haha. That reminds me of the time I bought this stupid duck garden statue thing from Target. I have no idea why, but I thought it was really cute at the time. I'm sure my husband felt the same way about it as you do about the lamp post.
