Halloween Party

Well it did rain pretty much all Saturday but Fall Day went on. We went to the grocery store (instead of the apple farm) and got apples and pumpkins for carving. The best part of the night was the Halloween costume party held at my apartment. There were a lot of interesting costumes!
Roommates: (from left to right) Spartan, Cross Dresser, Ballerina, Catholic School Girl

Now I was a ballerina with a tutu from Target that said "One size fits most", apparently that is the new politically correct way to say it! (The tutu was made for ages 3 and up! but it still fit!) We had so many people and apparently I am getting old because by like 1am I just wanted everyone to go home so I could go to bed!

Friday and Saturday track workouts were normal. We are starting our fourth week of workouts - this week we wont increase the workouts but maintain the distances from last week to give our bodies a chance to catch up and rest a little bit. It is supposed to snow here this week so I am guessing we wont be having any more outdoor practices : (

I finished reading What I talk about When I talk About Running by Haruki Murakami and although I enjoyed portions of it, I was left with a depressed feeling after closing the book. He focused a lot on one of my greatest fears - SLOWING DOWN! Even though I am young I worry that I will eventually slow down and I am not looking forward to that day. Now don't get me wrong I did like this book - He had some great stories about his life and his travels. Its a quick read so if you've got some time I suggest picking it up.

Why do the weekends always go so fast?! Here's to another unproductive Monday!

Hi J! Thanks for commenting on my blog, I'm def adding you to my read list-- i think you are pretty speedy, too!!! so you run the 400/800 now? are you doing extra years to run track? and...YAY you played basketball!!! I played in college, too (D3) and def miss going to shoot all the time and playing on a team... and WOOO 23 rbds in one game, way to go girl! :) we seem to have a lot in common-- i played soccer/bball my whole life and only dabbled in track 7th grade (high jump= broke my arm) and then again senior year high school to get in shape for frosh year college bball. BUT i ran more during college and started "really" running after graduating. and now i LOVE it. and i just... run. have started lifting again, too, though, because i missed feeling "strong" and being in the weight room :) AND i also read What I Talk About... and i agree with you, man he was kind of a subdued writer. and a little on the "oh well" side about everything. i did like his story about his ULTRA though, wow 62 miles that sort of pumped me up. okay, i think i'll cut myself off from making this comment any longer:) great to find you!!!!

Slowing down is scary. I'm just starting so slowing down isn't something I want to think about.

Weekends are so very short :(

Man, I'm already slow!! I guess it's inevitable to slow down. I try to accept it and tell myself it's OK... I *am* happy that I get to run as much as I do now. But still, yeah, I hear you!

"One size fits most"??? LOL... At least it's more accurate and "sensitive". Ha!

Glad the rain didn't hinder the festivities!

Slowing down. Don't even start worrying about that.

Nice costume! I'm glad you carried on Fall Day despite the inclement weather. As for slowing down, that's a long way off for you, and believe me-- there are still 50 and 60 year olds who beat me in races. Maybe they've slowed down, but hopefully the joy of being able to run faster than the majority of people decades younger than them brings them some satisfaction!
