This is what December running is supposed to look like

Saturday morning I woke up to dusting of SNOW and freezing temperatures.  Now this is what I expect for a run in December.

I ate a quick meal of oatmeal and coffee and then bundled up to head out into the cold.  I wore my neck warmer for the first time - definitely a must once the temperatures start to drop before 25F.

For the run, I had planned a 6+ mile loop and since this was my longest run in a while, I made sure to bring my cell phone in case I needed to call Brian for a ride if I didn't make it.  One reason I love winter running - more clothes means more pockets to hold things like cell phones and other running necessties.

I think the coffee went right to my legs because I was feeling good right from the start.  I wont lie and say my knee felt amazing from the start, it was a little uncomfortable but after a mile it calmed down and settled into the run.  I have run this route before and I just love it because it is mainly country roads filled with rolling fields and little to no traffic!

Thankfully I made it through the run and back home and even added on a little mileage to make this run an even 7 miles!

What do your December runs usually look like?

Half of my December runs are done back home in California, so it's sunny and warm. And the other half is done in Ithaca, so it's freezing. Although less so this year.

I was kind of excited when I woke up to those conditions on Saturday morning. I don't love the cold but I want it to feel like December!

Also love all the added pockets that winter running brings.

Nice run!!!

I have been so excited about getting outside for runs in winter but it hasn't gotten much colder than the low 50's. I can't wait for some snow and cooler temps to run in!

Pretty much like that :). We woke up to snow on Saturday morning here as well.

There is supposed to be so much more snow for December!!! I am still hopeful that we get some and the roads stay clear for running.

Last December was brutal with lots of snow and ice but this December has been wonderfully mild and I love it!

Awesome job! You keep me inspired, I ran my first ever 10 mile run yesterday. There was some walking in it but hey I still really pushed through 10 miles. I am feeling every bit of it today! Erica

I love running when it's snowing but unfortunately I don't get to do much of that here! But I'll definitely take any kind of winter running over summer running any day!

I wish. I'm in NW Ohio and I ran in a tee and capris today! Not a flake of snow in sight. Grrr.

That is what I expect for Dec too. Crazy that it will be in the 40s tonight for my run!

I also love the extra pockets.

Happy your run went so well! :)

Your run sounds amazing! I actually really love running in cold weather, bundling up and getting out in the brisk cool air. I miss it. Can't wait till I can run again. In the meantime though, I'll just read about your runs!

We had similar weather for our run on Sunday...except the wind made it wayyyyy colder.
The only thing I like about winter is having more pockets..I carry too much stuff.

I'd like to say my December runs are nice and snowy. Unfortunately Mother Nature has different plans for us this year. Just a bunch of brownish-green grass and warmer than normal temps for Wisconsin. Kind of wish winter would show up.
