The First Day

Track practice DAY 1:

Warm up - 1 mile on track then drills
Work out - sprint straightaways/walk curves for one lap, 4 - 400m relay style, 2x100m drills
Cool down - 2 laps slow, planks/ab workout, stretch

It really wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I talked to my coach and I will be in the 400m group for now and I really like the workouts they have planned. Tomorrow includes a long run as well as more sprinting. This will give me the right combination to increase my endurance. Also the girls I run with are really nice and I like running with them because they help to push me to run faster.

Once the season starts to get going and cross country is over I will be able to work on my field events. I have always loved throwing shot put and in high school shot is what got me into pentathlon which is 5 events (100m hurdles, long jump, high jump, shot put, and 800m). In college they still have pent but only for indoor - for outdoor its heptathlon which is 7 events (same events as pent plus 200m and javelin).

It is really nice to be with a team for workouts instead of alone, maybe this is what a running club kind of feels like. The 400s felt good but still like I pushed and I really tried to work on my form because sometimes I tend to swing my arms side to side instead of straight. I need to go and stretch because I can feel that my legs are tight. Have a good night!

wow, I would love to run with a group, I just need to find one here. It seems so much better than trying to train alone. I was a hurdler, long jumper and triple jumper. I like the field events too.
