Oh my Shoe!

My current running shoes just crossed a major milestone - 500 miles!  Its nice to see these shoes lasting longer and longer - in the past I have ditched my shoes around 400 miles because my knees would start to hurt.

I think I have been able to run more miles in each of my shoes because
1) I have been training more and my body is stronger and
2) I use two pairs - one for easy runs and one for my tempo, interval and long runs

My Brooks Ghost 3s are used for all tempo, interval and long runs.  I love how light they are and I think having a less clunky shoe has helped my feet and legs to get stronger.

My asics 2150s have been with me for a long time and I only use them on easy runs.  Often they feel bulky and big but the extra cushioning helps on my easy runs.

Since I started recording my mileage and tracking my shoes in May 2009 I have gone through 6 pairs - my current two pairs I use are both above 500 miles.  Guess it is time to go shopping.  I think I want to pick up another pair of Brooks Ghosts!  Sorry Asics.

Also since I started recording miles, I have run 1,987.8 miles.  Wow.  That is a lot.  And 823.3 has been just in 2011.  It is amazing to see the improvement in the past 2 years and to see that I can run more miles!

Whats the highest mileage you have put on a pair of running shoes??  Happy Tuesday!

I'm impressed with how well you keep track of the mileage on your shoes. I really need to find an easy way to do that. I've no idea how many miles I have on either of my pairs.

I put about 800 miles on my shoes before retiring them. I think its because I run in flats. They don't show a dramatic difference in performance as they wear because they have a very heel.

And OMG is that blood in your shoe?!?!?!

Wow! Your mileage is huge! I wonder what mine is? That's smart that you use different shoes for different types of runs

Since I am heavier, mine seem to run out at a lower mileage. Now that I am running longer distances, I am definitely learning what my feet and knees feel like, so I can better tell when I should check out my shoes if I had a bad run.

Amazing! I am on the opposite end of the spectrum and get abnormally low shoe mileage. Only 175 on the Brooks Adrenaline and then I have very noticeable aches in my quads and hips. I would love to just get the 300 out of them. I rotate in the Mizuno Elixir for speedwork and those get about 160 miles. But because they are lightweight, I think they are supposed to break down sooner. As a result, I go through about 12 pairs of shoes a year. Yikes.

I love your little spreedsheet screenshot! I cannot get that many miles on my shoes - I am lucky if I get close to 300!

Awesome that you have run so many miles this year!!!

400 and out no matter what. It keeps my legs and feet in good working order.

Hmmm, I may have to look at the Ghosts. I run in the 21xx series and am having some issues with the 2160s. My treadmill shoes have over 500 miles on them right now. Time to shop here too.

I think the most is around 450-500? I cna't remember. I usually get new ones around 400. I run in Mizunos and LOVE THEM.

I keep track of the mileage on my shoes too. I always have Brooks Adrenaline shoes, I have two of the same now. 1 pair blue and 1 pair red and I use them for all kind of runs and switch them every time I go for a run.

I have run 450 miles in my previous Brooks, by that time I needed new ones bad because sometimes running hurted.

Oh my goodness! I'm blown away by the fact that you have run nearly 2000 miles! Incredible.
But also, I love your little table there that give the cost effectiveness of the shoe!

Nice mileage!

I've found that as I'm training smarter, I'm wearing my shoes for more miles. Think I'm just running better.

Holy mileage girly!! That is amazing for the year so far. And way coolio that your shoes are lasting longer. I know I use the mileage as a way to gage the lifetime of my shoes. But I also listen to my body, and try not to push it too much.

P.S Happy one month til the big day!!

I love Brooks and I'll have to try to Ghosts sometime. I'm a dedicated glycerin gal, but they'd be cool to have for faster stuff.

I am a huge fan of Brooks and I find they last pretty long too, although I usually need to replace mine after 400 miles or so. Of course, I also use them as my walking shoes a lot of the times too!

What great mileage!

I am not that good at keeping track of the mileage on my shoes, but I use two pairs and rotate them. I get two new pairs every year

I need to track my miles on my shoes. I feel like I am so wasteful and want new ones when my old ones are not done.

I love that function on runnersworld! I esp love the cost/mile worn break down. Nerdy nerdy! :D
