TIART: Summer Running

Thursday, Thursday, Thursday...you snuck up on me again!

This weeks theme for TIART at Runners Lounge is about summer gear and tips. I love buying new shorts and recently I bought two more pairs of the Women's Nike Tempo run shorts (shown here at left). I bought a pair of bright orange and bright lime green shorts!

Just a few short months ago, I wasn't too keen on wearing these shorts. This new style of the tempo shorts really didn't fit my legs and bottom too well.

But on my last long run of 7 miles I decided to give these shorts a second chance and they actually weren't too bad. Maybe my butt got smaller...

So what do you wear with these shorts? I prefer tank tops in the summer, but what really is important is what is under. This time of year I go through all my clothes (running and non-running) to get rid of the old stuff. This includes sport bras.

So now I am on a mission to find some good sport bras to wear. I have tried the ones from target but they stretch out really easily. I need to be strapped in and not have anything bouncing around!! I would be interested to hear everyone's thoughts about this!

Well enough about that! I am running the 5k tomorrow, and maybe I will even talk B-Rabbit into running it as well! The long run will be either Saturday or Sunday depending on how I feel. Thanks for all the helpful comments, I really appreciate it! Happy Thursday!

But the clothes I *need* to throw away is all my most comfortable!

I would go to your local running store and have them measure you and tell you what would be good for your size. Different bras are appropriate for different cup sizes. I wear Moving Comfort's Fiona, which appears to be one of the more popular running bras out there.

Those shorts are ADORABLE but screem Chaffing to me, I always resort to spandex for fear of chub rub.

I have lost most of my "bouce to the ounce" since my training has started but I love my NIKE sports bra from Sports Authority:

I have the charcoal grey, buy it a size smaller than usual.. May not work for your chest but sure does for mine :)

I've heard good things about those Nike Tempo shorts-- I'll definitely check them out! I agree about Moving Comfort bras-- I'm actually planning to write a review for one tomorrow, but I would agree with your assessment of the target bras-- I'm small-busted and I bounce waaayyy too much in them.

I'm excited about your 5k! You're going to be awesome...

I feel the same way about the Target Bras!! I also have the same shorts- I love them-I always wear them with a tank. :)

I love the nike shorts. I'm addicted i actually have that exact same pair! Seriously they rock!

I normally wear the c9 tanks from target with my shorts. Randomly i have a matching hot pink tank that goes perfect with the shorts. I have a black/pink pair, & a purple/black pair. I just bought a neon green pair off the ineternet. And since i'm not too lucky up top, the c9 bras work great for me too! Sorry :(

Good luck tomorrow!!!

I actually like the Target ones, but I'm not very well endowed, and usually just get the smalls to really hold em down. But I have got a couple that weren't as tight fitting...so maybe there was a point when they transitioned to a different fabric or something. The most recent one I got was the best yet. Good luck on your 5k tomorrow! Can't wait to read the race report. :)

Cool shorts! The Target ones seem to work for me, so far. I'm not generously endowed.

I usually wear tank tops, year round, indoor. I can't stand the feeling of t-shirt sleeves on my shoulders when running. I am either wearing tanks or long sleeved shirts when running in cooler temps.

I HEART the NIKE TEMPO shorts. I have a lot of pairs myself!

And, I wear the Champion sports bras, the ones with extra support. Love 'em!

Yeah, the Nike tempo shorts don't fit me too well either (or many women for that matter). However, I still own 4 pair I believe. Black/white, black/red/white, blue/limegreen/white, green/lime green/white. I also have some shorter more free flowing Nikes that are comfy, but the thighs have to be ready to be seen. :)

This is probably weird coming from me, but my wife swears by the Freya Active sports bra:

She also wrote an article on the subject that talks about other sports bras:

Good luck in the 5K tomorrow!

I can't wear those shorts on long runs thanks to the chub rub. This girl has thighs and they don't really make them for girls built like me. Which stinks b/c I love all the fun colors they come in. Every sports bra I have found and fallen in love with gets discontinued. I was all about nike for awhile. Now I'm hooked on Brooks pr bra.

Ooh I've been looking for new shorts! Thanks for the review :)

Good luck on your 5K tomorrow!!

For sports bras, I swear by any of the bras from Title Nine. They are ranked by barbells. The more barbells, the more support. I am...um...chesty?! The Frog Bra is super awesome. However, uniboob will happen. But, I look like 2 cup sizes smaller and you ain't gonna move, sistah! Good luck! P.S. Just found your blog, and it's awesome!

I'm about to break up with my Target sports bras too. I'm no help with a good replacement, but I hear they are pretty expensive. Good luck this weekend!

I'm a 36 B and I do ok with the Target c9s, I just buy them a size smaller than I would normally wear.
